The idea was conceived in 2016, songs were written and recording eventually started in summer 2017. By the beginning 0f 2018 a 5 song demo was finished up then showcased and very well received at The Casbah in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.
The "masked hombre" is singer/songwriter Allen Helsdon. He says " my inspiration for the lyrical content and flowing melodies of our songs come from a number of trips to Mexico experiencing the joy of mariachi first hand. I'm a storyteller...mariachi is storytelling...it just fits! Of course... I also have a love of Clint Eastwood westerns and tequila!! ".
The band took a hiatus in the later part of 2018, member changes were made and since 2019, Midnight Hombres have been playing regularly and are ready to add some spice & variety to any festival or event!
The most notable addition is Latin Jazz guitarist Eddie Paton who's resume includes Sultans of String and Robert Michaels to name just a couple. . Eddie has recently released his instrumental solo album "Solis" and receives regular airplay on CBC radio. https://eddiepaton.com/music
He joins former band mate vocalist Allen Helsdon, bassist Steve MacAndrew, drummer Donny Ivanco and trumpeter Jordan Tunney to form this unique band of amigos!!!

"Sultans of String" for their annual Christmas Caravan Tour !!
Well that was one hell of a summer!! We continued re-writing some old originals and worked on some new ones and revamped some coversongs.......our version of Ozzies "LOCO TRAIN" seems to to impress. We shared the main stage at the Dundas Cactus Festival with Steven Page of Barenaked Ladies & Junkhouse!! And what a great time playing downtown Hamilton in Gore Park for a super diverse crowd!!
Wow, what a blast we had this month!!! Started it off with a show celebrating Canada day among all the diverse cultural foods, and artisans at the "It's Your Festival". It was great sharing the Main Bandshell stage with Canadian icons Chilliwack & Northern Pikes!! We also were part of the Concession Street BIA's Sidewalk Sounds Festival. Although it was a balmy 35 degrees, we rocked it out at street level, dancing with kids, older folks and of course senoritas!!
Spent the month recording our 1st new original Love(ballad of a broken man) and rehearsing for our Canada Day show on the main stage Bandshell at It's Your Festival.
May started off with a Fiesta!! Our show at The Casbah for Cinco de Mayo was so much fun with a lot of new faces in the crowd checking us out. We did an interview with Ric Taylor for VIEW magazine which he also played on his CFMU radio show "Lullabies in Razorland". We also started supporting "The Donkey Sanctuary of Canada" by accepting donations at our show.
